2008 End-of-Season Survey - Results & Findings

We received 112 responses to the RCGSL End-of-Season survey which is about 28% of our 2008 spring league families - a great response rate for an online survey. Every team from the spring league was represented in the survey, which gives us a real good sampling of feedback.

The following is a summary of our findings and at the bottom of this page is a link to the results of the entire survey.

Some of our Findings:

  1. 94% of those surveyed said they enjoyed their experience with RCGSL this past spring (see chart below).
  2. 87% of those surveyed would recommend their coach for next season.
  3. RCGSL will most likely go over the 400 player mark for the 2009 Spring Season. (more...)

How would you rate your experience with RCGSL for the 2008 Spring Season?

Feedback and Suggestions:

The RCGSL survey results are positive, which tells us that we are on the right track. However, we also know there is still plenty of room for improvement. Here are a few of the suggestions we received...

  1. Teams need to be more balanced in skill level.
  2. Too many pitching clinics, not enough all skills clinics.
  3. League fees were a bit high.
  4. Don't change the game schedule after the season starts.
  5. Better communication on league playing rules.
  6. Add a Volunteer Coordinator position to the board.

We know the scheduling was an issue this past season and we won't let that happen again. Our goal is to get better and your feedback and suggestions will help us accomplish that goal.

Comments from the Survey…

“The league spirit was great, and our daughter got a sense of belonging to something. She loved opening day the most.”

"I think make it mandatory for all teams to staff the snack shack with team parents or to have parents pay teenagers to run the snack shack."

“You guys pulled of a miracle doing as well as you did this first year.  If there are any complaints it wasn't due to a lack of everyone's heart and desire.”

“Superb. Lots of enthusiasm, my daughter had a BLAST and learned new skills. LOVED the fields and the snack shack!!!”

"Parent volunteer form with sign up. Each family must volunteer a set number of hours, or buy out for a certain dollar amount. This is a volunteer organization everyone must volunteer."

"League was very well run. This has been a good experience for my daughter, she has been there since the summer league and always looks forward to playing. Very positive activity in teaching our youth sportsmanship , respect, and team work."

"the rules were not interpreted or applied consistently"

"Perhaps a additional concession stand (portable) is needed at the other fields."

“My daughter loved playing! The opening ceremony was a great way to start the season and I felt privileged to be part of the beginning of what I hope to be a great tradition.”

Summary:

RCGSL received an approval rate of 94%, which is pretty good for a first year non-profit youth sports organization with close to 400 registered players - and run solely by volunteers!

Everyone involved with RCGSL should be very proud of what we accomplished in our first year. We have so many great families and volunteers who worked extremely hard in making our new girls youth softball league a reality. We could not have done it without all of you!

I especially want to recognize the RCGSL Board Members for all their hard work and commitment. What has been accomplished by this very dedicated group of people is truly amazing. Thanks team!

The first year is always the hardest and now that is behind us. RCGSL is going to be even bigger and better next spring. It should be another fun ride!
